The mobile community, especially the iPhone community, is overwhelmed by Apple’s revisions made to its policy of restricting calls over 3G data networks. Hallelujah, from now on the iPhone and iPod touch users can make unrestricted free local or international calls using 3G data roaming.
There are four main platforms now (as far as I know, although tomorrow there may be many more) that support calls over data networks: Skype, iCall, Fring and Acrobits Softphone.
iCall is definitely the industry leader in VoIP over 3G network platforms (at least for now).
So… what options for making calls over 3G data networks are available for iPhone users.
Let’s first take a look at iCall app that allows VoIP over 3G: iCall for iPhone.
First of all, you can download the iCall App for free from the Apple Store.
iCall offers three packages: Total Access, Pay Per Call and ad-supported FREE USA and Canada calls. Besides that, they offer a three days trial period to get the first taste of calling over 3G data networks.
iCall’s Total Access package includes free VoIP over 3G calls to the US and Canada and dirty-cheap rates for all the other international calls. The package costs $9.95 per month.
